ØYA ~ lydstrømmer

ØYA focuses on tactile and visual encounters with sound, making it especially accessible to people with impaired hearing. Inspired by the unique sound and texture of sand and stones, the independence and interdependence of each particle and its collective movement pattern is explored through music and dance improvisation. Navigating between physical and sonic landscapes, the performers enter a dialogue with the material, each other, and with the audience.

ØYA is a new collaboration between sound artist and professor of music technology Øyvind Brandtsegg and dance artist Anna Thu Schmidt who want to offer an open space for movement and sound improvisation.

ØYA by ImproDans Trondheim premiered at Multiplié dansefestival by DansiT at Kunsthall Trondheim 28 March 2025 and was part of Only Connect Trondheim by nyMusikk Trondheim at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder 11 April 2025.
